Join us as a Producer
Insert Laughter Here are seeking a new “collaborating producer” to join the team and help us to move forward with renewed vigor and to secure fresh new opportunities for the group to pursue.
This independent self-funded improvised comedy company, which was established in February 2019, has recently undergone some internal structure changes and we are now keen to seek expressions of interest for someone new to join the team, bringing their own experience and energy to the role of Producer.
We are particularly looking for someone who is able to confidently lead on the organisation and booking of shows and other related events such as practice sessions and content generating opportunities, with attention to detail and budgetary considerations taken into account. There is a strong established team of performers in place, with members mostly based around Suffolk and Norfolk, though some are further afield.
In previous years we have performed in theatres, via our own hosted events, and at a few fringe festivals - particularly Brighton and Camden - and we have a new recurring show slot starting later this year in Norwich. We are always keen to expand and would love to be able to get to the point of being able to go to Edinburgh in the future so we are hoping to hear from someone who is interested in leading on the development of the group in this regard too, with the opportunity to quickly become an integral part of a re-establishing company.
We have three main arms to our shows:
- Short form, quickfire ‘whose line’ style games across two acts
- Long form, ‘Spin-a-Play!’ (developed for 60mins format)
- Character based, ‘Who’s Askin?!’ - in early development
In terms of the Producer role itself the finer details are open to discussion, remuneration will most likely be based on profit sharing from show proceeds, at least in the short term. We are very open to proposals in this regard, as the intention for this role will be to lead and champion the ongoing success of the group, the exact details of what that might look like in future can be determined as part of the process - hence the “collaborating” nature of the position being advertised.
Also this is not necessarily a performing position, though we’re not ruling it out if you would like to get involved in the actual shows too.
If you are interested in expressing interest for this position, or you would like to discuss it in more detail, please get in contact to arrange an informal conversation with Insert Laughter Here’s Director Aaron Weight, which can either be in person (if reasonably within/nearby to East Anglia) or via telephone/zoom. Closing date Tuesday 30th June.
